Family, a couple of days ago I shared an original photo of a statue, over a hundred years old, from the Royal Museum of Central Kmt showing a priest from colonial Belgium in Congo abusing a young Kmtyw woman in the name of colonial benevolence.  It is a disgusting image and underscores the millions of Congolese who were murdered during colonial rule.  I talked to a Congolese official at the museum who implied that the best thing for us to do is to work to stop the horrors going on in Congo today.  She told me that the Congolese are not as concerned with exposing what happened a hundred years ago as they are about the situation in Eastern Congo right now!  Knowing our history is vital, but using history as the foundation and guiding point for positive action is the key.  We cannot live in past.  But we can certainly learn from it!
