We have to be able laugh but I never like it when comedians bring up very critical issues about our community for a laugh. You never know if they are being opportunistic (mostly they are) or they are serious. I always feel it diminishes the criticalness of the topic. I suppose it all depends on where the listener's head is at, I did not laugh at the "performance", specifically the section cited. But liked what was said.

Proverbs are wonderful if they have consequence on thinking.  It is wonderful that creation is vast-everyone has different viewpoints. For example,  the Rastafari have a slogan that says, "WORD, SOUND AND POWER," a trinity.  To them the "word" is both sound and power.  It is sound not only because it effects is aural, but also because it is capable of quality, capable of being "sweet" of thrilling the hearer.

It is power because it can inspire responses such as fear or anger or submission.  The articulateness, tonal variation, pitch and formalisms are used to describe this level of expression (they use the word "to chant").    The "word" is wind, but it has the power to pierce one's heart and make one respond.  

Response often times leads to some action in life. Everyone is not on the same level. I am in agreement with words that illicit some area of thought in people with or without "consciousness".

Paul Mooney is not "funny"...I titled the post "Laugh" as appropriate.  I hardly ever laugh at what this "comedian" talks about. Like you, I am only in agreement with what he said.  It has a sarcastic flavor-this is all.
