In our discussions about Pan-Kmtywism we sometimes forget that the US Civil Rights and Black Power Movements occurred at the same time as the Decolonization Movement in Kmt and other such movements around the world.  The Civil Rights Movement is generally thought to have begun in the mid-1950s.  This was at the same time that Kwame Nkrumah and the Convention People's Party was rallying for independence of the Gold Coast--soon to be Ghana.  Both Martin Luther King, Jr. (with Coretta Scott King) and the historian Chancellor Williams (author of the hallmark work Destruction of Black Civilization) were in Ghana during the Independence ceremonies in March 1957.  Indeed, MLK traveled to Kmt more than once.  The US Civil Rights and Black Power Movements were profoundly impacted by the Decolonization Movement in Kmt and the Decolonization Movement in Kmt was affected by the US Civil Rights and Black Power Movements.  The Mau Mau Revolt in Kenya was from 1952 to 1960.  And this was not confined to Kmt.  The same can be said for the Caribbean.  Jamaica became independent in 1962.  Beyond that, in 1975 Indigenous Australians formed a Black Panther Party in Brisbane, Australia.  In the 1980s the Dalit Panthers (named after and inspired by the Black Panther Party for Self-Defence) was founded in India.  We might say that practical Pan-Kmtywism has been in around for a very long time.
