It seems that Black middle class parents are part of the problem. They have adopted white values and traditions, and have "forced" them on their offsprings. I can bear witness to this madness. Once I became "conscious", I did a "self system analysis" of what I had been exposed to via/parents (not necessarily grandparents because they seemed to be closer to the Kmtyw way than my parents generation).

Black parents are still "injecting" their children with alien ideologies and have NO idea where they came from (majority don't care!!). To a certain degree, my parents are somewhat disappointed in my lifepath. My folks were children of the 50's and 60's. They are somewhat disappointed because I rejected Americanism, capitalism and whiteness.

Great observation and lots more to be said on this subject, my brother. Have you read "The Black Bourgeoisie," by E. Franklin Frazier or "The Crisis of the Negro Intellectual," by Harold Cruse? Those were two giants of the Fifties who gave a complete breakdown was so accurate you will see how their words play out nearly fifty years later. Examples from Frazier's analysis express themselves in hip hop, black Hollywood, the church, civil rights, etc. As for what Cruse wrote, just take a gander at Bev Smith, Stanley Crouch, Shelby Steele, Earl Ofari Hutchinson, Farrakhan, Tariq Nelson, and Michael Eric Dyson. The thought produced by Frazier and Cruse informed quite a few revolutionaries.

To understand how they could have been so timeless in their analysis, it is utmostly important to make the distinction between the black middle class as an objective class formation and the black middle class as it pertains to individual (subjective) actions and attitudes. The individual has the capacity to commit class suicide and break with his/her class allegiances. To understand this, I suggest you dig out Amilcar Cabral and read what he says on the subject. Yet we also have to understand how middle class values infect the black working class and alienate a huge sector of black workers from their own objective self-interests.

When we talk about objective and subjective we have to be clear. By objective, we mean the definitive, concrete reality of a thing. What it is, what it is designed to do, how it behaves in its own self-interests. Classes are the objective, historical forces in society. Society is divided into classes and these strata make or change history. The ruling class (the bourgeoisie, or capitalist class) owns and controls wealth and power in society and so determines how history will be made. The working classes produce all the wealth and power in society but do not own and control it, and so are therefore in a struggle for survival. The middle class exist for the bourgeoisie, to help control the producers by mediating disputes and militating between the two contending forces in society.

Then, by subjective, we mean the individual and that alone. The individual behaves in an unpredictable way in that a person can step out of his/her objective role as a class-based social being and behave in the interests of a foreign, alien or antagonistic class. A middle class person can aspire to become a legit member of the bourgeoisie. Members of the working class can falsely identify with either the middle or ruling class. A capitalist or petty bourgeois (middle class) person can commit class suicide by turning their back on their class and joining the ranks of the oppressed.

So everything boils down to class. You are astute in recognizing this and seeing the contradiction the black petty bourgeoisie pose. A more scientific understanding will elevate your analysis so you won't spend years wallowing for clarity like I did. Racism is nothing except the concentrated class question. Racism is the class problem in concentrated form! So if racism becomes diluted, the black middle class will immediately benefit. That is what Kwame Nkrumah defined as neo-colonialism. But as it dilutes racism it disarms the racists, thereby increasing the potential for white people to shed their racism and join the fight against Imperialism.

C'mon, my brother, we can build the anti-imperialist struggle by defeating both racism and neo-colonialism! Forward the Revolution!
