MaVynee, aka "The Beach Lady," and a group of concerned friends travel to Crane Island,  Florida to defend the unique wildlife against destructive development.  This is an excerpt from The Beach Lady, a documentary that is currently  in production.


             
The Beach          Lady is a feature length documentary          that follows the journey of a woman of great          strength who never stopped. She was and continues          to be inspirational. With her seven-foot long          dreadlocks she walked into many classrooms and          auditoriums catching the attention of everyone.          She used this attention to spread her story          of hope, compassion, and encouragement. Her          soft voice and tender touch was hypnotic. It          gave at-risk youth a feeling that they could          make a difference. It made the old and infirm          realize that they had purpose. MaVynee Betsch          changed people wherever she roamed and whenever          she spoke.
       
        MaVynee Oshun Betsch passed away on September          5, 2005 on a very special place known as American          Beach. Although MaVynee may be best remembered          for her tireless work and significant success          in preserving this special place. She was and          continues to be so much more.
