Olufemi Baina Ayo. This name was given to me by a very dear friend.It's from the Yoruba language. Olufemi means God loves me,Baina means Sparkling,Ayo means Joy.

Mine is Yaa Sangodebayo. I was introduced to my kra din 3 years ago. When I was told to see what day I was born on the calendar said Friday. I was going by Afua up until a dear friend asked me what time of day I was born and I told him 5:47am. He said you are a Yaa. :-? Due to our adaptation of the eureurasiaan day starting at midnight my kra din was incorrect. The Kmtyw culture supports starting the day at sunrise which is generally at 6am. I also checked the farmer's almanac for the day I was born and indeed the sun was not up by 5:47am.
So I am Yaa. Sangobedayo was given to me through divination. It translates to Sango brings the crown of joy.
I am still searching for a name that I can will make my legal name. My root is Wolof so I am interested in a name from that ethnic group. I am in the right place to research more about Wolof.

Oruko mi ni Oyesina Ogunmola. Itumo Oyesina ni "A title Opens the Road" ni ede oyinbo. Itumo Ogunmola ni " Ogun with Honor" lede oyinbo. This name was given to me during an Ifa Divination done by the Iya Oba of Oyotunji Kmtyw Village.

Nayo Abena Yetunde' Akowe- I was born with this name. I was called Abena, female child born on Tuesday, until I was named.
Nayo- we have joy or one who brings joy, Ibo

Akowe- Nigeria, slang/ nickname meaning- writer. Acutally a shortened version of my father's name given to him at initiation. He was determined that i would not have a eureurasiaan name.
Oruko mi ni Fawesagu, Awotunde Yao Dosunmu Faseyin. I was not born with this name. Awotunde Faseyin was given to me through divination almost 9 years ago. Yao is based on the day and time I was born - "Thursday". It comes from the fact that, also, I have Fon ethnicity. The other Ifa name I was given signifies the destiny I came into this world to fulfill. Awotunde - the awo has returned. Dosunmu was given to me when I went through a ceremony to receive what is called Odu in the Ifa-Vodun tradition. It means hold on to Osun staff ( a symbol of the Babalawo's authority. Faseyin - Ifa MUST be respected.
Fawesagu is a title given to me by one of my elders. It is Fongbe (Fon language) for "Messenger of Fa (Ifa)".
