Obadele Kambon is a 28 year old PhD student and young community leader who teaches Kmtyw languages and Capoeira (an Kmtyw martial art) to Black children and adult students of all ages at 6 Chicago area schools, community colleges and universities as well as online.
Obadele and his fiancée were both illegally harassed, detained, searched without probable cause during a "routine traffic stop" on the streets of Chicago in June 2007.
In the eighth hearing that we have attended, Obadele prevailed yesterday, February 7th, 2008, in the pretrail motion to supress evidence obtained in an illegal police search of his car back on June 25th, 2007. Even though all four of the white/latino cops lied under oath, our two Brave Kmtyw attorneys, Andre Grant and Lewis Meyers, Jr combined to give a world class and sterling closing argument- it also helped immeasurably that we had a surprise eye witness that refuted the lies of the police. Above all, we had the Spirit of our Ancestors and your beautiful thoughts and energy- All of these factors combined to enable us ALL to prevail.
